Lars is revealed to be another survivor. As a rescue helicopter lands, the team’s pet dog dashes out into the wilderness. Lars frantically jumps on the chopper and orders the pilot to follow it. It now becomes apparent that this is in fact the start of Carpenter’s 1982 version as Lars takes out a rifle and starts frantically firing at the animal. The film ends as he shoots.
